Jonas Åkerlund and Alban Faust have known each other for a long time, but it was only a few years ago they started playing together for real.
Their common interest in traditional music and old instruments finally brought them together and Jonas, who is best known for his personal and innovative performances of traditional music from West Dalarna and Småland, discovered the music from Dalsland.
On this record they have yet again done some digging in the folk music soil of Dalsland and unearthed some fine gems, mixed with some better known pieces from this county.
Jonas Åkerlund was educated at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm and plays fiddle, viola d’amore, guitar, cittern.
Alban Faust is “riksspelman”, leads the Dalsland Folk Musicians’ Associaton, and has been awarded the Dalsland Medal for his efforts to promote the Dalsland musical heritage.
He plays nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle), Swedish bagpipes, Dalsland pipes, guitar.
